Update Qwest

Install a new version of Qwest on your server.

Each license includes a year of new versions. Install them when it suits your team.

  1. Open Instance admin›License.
  2. Click Check for updates.
  3. If there’s one, click Download (or download it from your account).

Security updates also show as a notice to instance admins. Install those soon.

Instance admin›Backups›Back up now, and wait until it says Done.

Put the new file in your qwest folder (see Install, step 2), then:

Terminal window
docker load -i qwest-1.1.0.tar

In .env, change the version:

QWEST_VERSION=1.1.0

Restart:

Terminal window
docker compose up -d

Qwest updates its database as it starts. Watch it with docker compose logs -f qwest until it prints database is up to date.

Delete the .tar file, and remove the old image to free space:

Terminal window
docker image rm qwest:1.0.0

Put the old version back in QWEST_VERSION, run docker compose up -d, then restore the backup you made in step 2. An older Qwest can’t run on a database a newer one has updated.

Nothing stops. You keep the last version your license covers, for as long as you like. To get newer ones, renew.
